Welcome to Anglers Rest!
What is Anglers Rest? Quite simply our home! We currently live in the South West of England and it’s the name of our house, a late Victorian property, which we decided to name after my husband’s most favourite activity and I use the name for that of my on-line presence, such as this website, blog and alike.
I have been actively researching my Family History since 1986 and that of my husband since 1993. As my interest in genealogy increased, I embarked upon various projects and details of these appear elsewhere on this website and all research continues to be a work in progress and enjoyment.
I am a member and supporter of various family history or historical groups and was one of the leading family historians in the formation of the Anglo Italian Family History Society, holding the post of Vice Chair for about 6 years. I was also part of a team who formed the Society for One-Place Studies and held the post of Secretary for 14 months. I am also heavily involved with the Guild of One-Name Studies, a worldwide organisation for those with an interest in Surnames. I am currently a regional representative amongst other things and I am also Secretary and a Trustee of the Guild, which is a Registered Charity in England and Wales.
I have a wealth of experience in researching not just genealogical quests, but also that of businesses, buildings and anything in between! I have a background in pharmaceutical management and training, with a very acute note for detail and the broad picture. I also have a Honours Degree in History and a Advanced Diploma in local History.
